Happy Thanksgiving!

DSC_8877

Our family is thankful to God for bringing us to this threshold of believing Him for what only He can do. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for life eternal He has given us. God made a way for us to hear the Gospel by using people obedient to His call. The Holy Spirit gave us the gift of faith to respond and enter into this sacred relationship with the God of the universe. We couldn’t ask for anything more than for Him to grant us the grace to serve Him by obeying with wholehearted devotion the call He has placed in our lives, so more people can experience what He allows us to experience, having been redeemed through the saving knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ  — unexplainable JOY and perfect PEACE to the glory of Him whose LOVE is without limits!

This year, we are especially thankful for the blessing of Ronnie’s full-time job at Nebraska Furniture Mart and Jenny’s per diem job at Baylor Medical Center at McKinney. The financial provision through our current jobs has allowed our family to meet financial needs during this season of support-raising for ministry.

Being able to keep our home, having good health, our kids performing well in school, the unconditional love and support from both sides of our families, the wonderful favor of missionary endorsement from our current and former home churches, the special accommodation of our sending organization, your unselfish prayer and financial partnership with us, all these and so much more, make our hearts swell with gratitude.

Each day is a miracle.  Each day is full of reasons to give thanks to God from whom all blessings flow.

May your Thanksgiving be meaningful and worshipful.

From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

Love sincerely in Christ,

Ronnie, Jenny, Journey, Harvest and River

Journey to My Destiny

Hebrews 12

It’s been 24 weeks since my commissioning. What a journey it has been!  My destination is definite. Eternity, the best version of it, is mine and no one, nothing can take that away from me. How sure am I? The Bible tells me so, Romans 8:38-39.

Meanwhile, I have been entrusted to pursue certain stations. It’s part of my earthly journey. By God’s grace, He will get me to the next station in His perfect time. I prefer to get there quickly.  Yet to God, quickly may mean 8, 12, 18 months! I must abide in Him throughout the time.  I must be sensitive to what He wants to see accomplished as I go from where I am now to that next station. I don’t want numbers or statistics, my crazy schedule, or the endless chores at home to steal the joy of following the path He has already paved for me. Right now, my finite mind’s understanding of that next station is reporting to my mission assignment with Cru and GAiN.

I am grateful for my husband, Ronnie; our children, Journey, Harvest and River; and all those people praying for us and supporting us financially, partnering with us in ministry. We all hope that in that next station, our opportunity to spread the love of Christ in word and deed among the unreached will be plentiful and fruitful, resulting to many souls reached by the Gospel, to the glory of our God!

My family is who I consider the front-row people watching how I run the race or walk the journey. Oh, that I would humbly model to my children, not perfection but obedience, how to walk the Walk and talk the Talk. That come the time they are able to make decisions for themselves, they will choose to follow Christ and serve Him only.

Our pursuit of the next station just happens to provide us a point of reference to where we must ultimately realize Someone, greater than us, in Whom we must faithfully abide, is in-charge of our journey. For truly, He is our Destiny.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

The First Month

“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NIV

It’s one thing to believe God to supply all your needs when you have a job with a company that pays you salary from month to month. It’s another thing to trust God to meet needs through ministry partnership.

I have always wanted to work full-time in ministry after I got saved.  Whether this was a God-given desire or just a personal whim, He evidently confirmed what it is 30 years later. Back when I was still single, I had no problem believing God to provide for my needs.  But after getting married and having kids to feed, clothe and send to school, Ronnie and I struggled with this idea of support-raising for years.  We would rather work and not depend on other people’s hard-earned money. But the Bible teaches a different perspective. God calls some to do full-time ministerial work and their needs are just as amply supplied by His provision through the generous giving of people whom God calls to be part of His ministry. Ronnie and I had to be liberated from our hang-ups about support-raising in order for us to fully embrace His calling upon our lives. And here we are, onward to our journey of “mobilizing people and their resources to the person and purposes of Jesus Christ” (quoted from The God Ask by Steve Shadrach).

That is the idea.  That was how Jesus and His disciples went about bringing the Gospel from one city and village to another. Many contributed to their support out of their private means (Luke 8:1-3). It’s about the Body of Christ working hand in hand towards a common purpose.  Our part may be uniquely different from yours, but joined together, we fulfill the mission of giving every man and woman the chance to connect and have a relationship with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

What’s happening in GAiN?

This past week (June 16-20, 2015) GAiN successfully held its Semi-Annual Mission Packing Event at its Logistics Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. With hundreds of volunteers involved, this week-long family-friendly event packed thousands of aid packages which will soon be shipped in many places around the world where they are desperately needed.  Special thanks to Christine Chappell for these photos!

Ministry Feature: The Jesus Film

One of the many things I got so excited about while attending New Staff Training in Orlando, Florida was learning about the vast ministry tools we have at Cru.  The Jesus Film is one of them.  Did you know that the Jesus Film has now been translated into 1300 languages? It has been officially accredited by The Guinness Book of World Records as “The Most Translated Film” in history.  What’s even more wonderful is the free app that’s now available!  Once you download the app on your mobile device, it’s amazing what you can do with it.  For example, you can search for a country within the app and it will give you all the translations that are available for that particular country. Just for Philippines alone, I could pull 61 languages and dialects that the film has been translated to! For Zambia, 35 languages! Not only can you access the Jesus Film within that app, other short films are available as well. Talk about having evangelism and discipleship tools right at your fingertips!

App languages

Statistics show that 70% of the world’s population is illiterate.  Can you imagine the impact you would have on someone who cannot read nor write, if you tell or show them the story of Jesus through a film translated in their own language?  It’s powerful! To date, more than 200 million men, women and children have indicated to know Christ after viewing the Jesus Film, and new churches are being planted daily.

This and other ministry tools are available not only for Cru staff members, but other believers or users as well. To find out more about these tools, visit cru.org.

Support Progress

At the closing of my first month of support-raising, I came to about 16% in combined monthly pledges and actual gifts that are already up and running!  Praise the Lord!!! That percentage actually exceeded the minimum support goal that I needed to raise per month under Cru’s ministry partnership guidelines.  If this trend continues, I would be able to report to my assignment in 6 months, about half the time the average amount it takes for a missionary to report to his or her assignment! Don’t get me wrong.  It’s not about how quickly I get to report to my assignment. This is all about God’s timing. Regardless when my support goal gets completed, the truth remains that God does supply for His mission and each gift received never fails to bring me into utter amazement of the One who calls each of us to be involved in the Great Commission.

Prayer Requests

Here’s how you could pray for me and my family during this month of June and towards July:

  • As I continually meet with more folks one-on-one in the next four weeks about my ministry, please pray that God will bless my appointment meetings to encourage, inspire and get people actively engaged in making His Son known.
  • Our family is in a financial transition.  Our household income scenario has changed significantly as I traded my full-time nursing job with being on staff with Cru. Pray for us to have a strong sense of determination and discipline as we try to grasp and follow God’s direction in meeting our monthly budget during this interim period, while staying within Cru’s ministry guidelines.

Thank You!

The first month of my missionary journey after I completed the required New Staff Training has been a very fruitful one. 16% in monthly support is a good start. Thanks to all of you who have welcomed me in your homes, churches, phones, inboxes, breakfasts, lunch breaks, nights and weekends! There are many other ministries you can choose to support. Thanks for choosing to partner with me.  For what this ministry of reaching out to the destitute with the love of Christ through the delivery of humanitarian aid and development projects is worth, I can’t wait to meet many more of you.  It is in Christ’s name that I will continue along this path of obedience of getting this ministry fully funded to bring me to my assignment the soonest.  All for the sake of those people waiting to hear the Gospel, so that they, too, may bring glory to our God as their lives are transformed through the life-changing power of our Message!

Love sincerely in Christ,

Jenny Aquino

P. S.

To be real honest with you, I’d like to report to my assignment as quickly as possible.  On the one hand, I don’t want to go ahead of God’s timing.  But when it comes to saving a life in an emergency situation, we call 911. Every minute counts. The sooner the ambulance could come, the better the chance of keeping that person alive. This ministry is about saving souls in the light of their eternal destiny.  If I were that critically ill patient, just how soon do I want the paramedics to come to get me breathing again?

God Answered Our Prayers!

Three days prior I left for Orlando, I was still 27% short of my goal to fully cover the cost of my training. But I know God wasn’t going to turn me down.  He called me into full-time ministry, and so with a little reminding of His promise of provision, He calmed my spirit. And sure enough, He showed up! Donations kept coming in, that before the end of my training, total amount raised was 136% of the goal!  Praise the Lord!!!

The New Staff Training was fantastic!  I learned a lot, no doubt.  It was so encouraging and refreshing to meet Cru staff members and fellow trainees who came from all around the U.S., representing different Cru ministries: Campus Ministry, Family Life, City, Athletes in Action, Cru Military, to name a few.

Listening to the bio and testimonies of older staff members, their tenure ranging from 27 to 48 years, was so inspiring!  They’ve been on staff that long but their enthusiasm and passion to serve the Lord, as if they’ve just received Christ yesterday.  Their wealth in wisdom, the depth of their insight, the aura of strength, conviction, confidence and stability emanating from them, were just amazing!  God has surely blessed Cru for such a time as ours, with such powerful workforce dedicated to fulfilling the Great Commission.

So having completed the required training and having taken vows, on May 16, 2015, I was fully commissioned as a Missionary of Campus Crusade for Christ, along with these lovely folks!

Approved for endorsement!

The day after I came back from training was my scheduled interview with the Missions Leadership Team of our home church in Frisco, TX – Stonebriar Community Church. The outcome? I was granted the seal of approval to be recognized as of one our church’s supported missionaries! Yay!!! I could never be happier that day.  It’s like having mom and dad on board with me as I set sail further along my missionary journey.  God is just awesome!

What’s next?

I must find a team of partners who will support my ministry to get fully-funded. As soon as this team is complete, I can report to my assignment.  Please pray for favor and that I could clearly share about my ministry as I meet with individuals, small groups, other churches and organizations in the days ahead and invite them to partner with me in prayer and monthly financial support.

I know that God has already prepared the men and women who will comprise my team of supporters. I would love to see you as one of them! We are in for a treat.  I couldn’t wait to see how God will use our partnership in accomplishing the task of giving every man a chance to hear the Gospel.

Let’s talk soon, if we haven’t already. Please feel free to leave me a message in the Contact tab if you have any questions or would like to meet with me to hear more about my ministry.

Love sincerely in Christ,

Jenny Aquino

P.S.

Partner with me today! In prayer and/or financial support, I will be so grateful for it. God bless you!

Having the End Goal in Mind

“This Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14 NIV

According to joshuaproject.net, there are still millions of people that are yet to hear the Gospel. The Bible is clear that this world dominated by darkness will not come to its end until all people have had the chance to embrace or reject the Good News. If we understand or remind ourselves that there’s a much better place prepared by God for believers to enjoy, we wouldn’t trade a minute or a second to remain here on this earth. But God has a plan! He doesn’t want anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). His plan involves you and me. Have you ever wondered what the Church’s current strategy is to get every believer aligned with God’s plan?

Cru is one organization committed to the Great Commission. In fact, both Ronnie and I, in separate universities in the Philippines, had personally benefited from the efforts of their campus ministries during our college years. Cru is at the forefront of sharing the Gospel around the world, even in the toughest places to reach. We can both be a part of the great work God is accomplishing through Cru in obedience to His command of making disciples of all nations, Matthew 28:19-20. That command comes with a promise, my favorite part, “And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Here’s the deal:

We can partner so we can multiply the fruits of our obedience!

“But I’m already involved in my church!” or “I’m already supporting 5 missionaries!”, you’d say. That’s great! I’m happy to hear that. Way to go! And I mean that, sincerely.

But would you at least agree to celebrate with me one answered prayer and commit to pray for this new request? Yeah?! Sure?!

Here’s what we can praise God for:

  • As of May 4’s postal and email delivery, I have reached about 73% of my immediate goal!  Whoohoo!!! That goal is to raise the cost of my 10-day New Staff Training scheduled on May 8 to 17, 2015 in Orlando, Florida.   I’m leaving this Friday already!

Here’s what you can help me pray for:

  • The arrival of the 27% before Friday.  I barely have 3 days left to fully fund my training.  Any amount raised in excess of the cost of the training will flow into my monthly support, which will be my next goal.

I can easily elaborate what reaching my immediate goal means.  Simply put, you will be sending off a missionary who is equipped to work in the field. And what is that field?  The world!  Too big?!  It’s Nepal!  It’s those places that have been devastated by disasters. It’s those people who have nothing to cover their wounds or relieve their pain and suffering.

PLEASE JOIN HANDS WITH ME! $30, $50, $100 or any lower or higher amount the Lord will lead you to give will be greatly appreciated.  I’m sure you can give some amount. If not, may I ask how can I pray for you and your needs? I want to be a blessing to you too, even to pray for your needs as you would pray for me, my family and this new ministry I shared with you.

If you’re in a position to help financially and decide to give, would you kindly do that today by clicking on this page?  Your gift will be as unto our God whose desire is for all men to come to the saving knowledge of His Son Jesus Christ. That is the end goal in mind, that we may be one with God’s purpose in bringing all men into His marvelous light.  To Him be praise forever and forever!

Love sincerely in Christ,

Jenny Aquino

P. S.

Give today! No matter the amount, I will be so grateful for it. God bless you!

Where It Becomes All About Him

“Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.”  Matthew 18:19-20 The Message

I am sure you will agree, prayer brings us into that place where our eyes begin to see the work that He’s doing. And as we begin to see, change happens inside of us.  We start to realize He’s been at work all this time and that He is only waiting for us to be a part of that which will give us the utmost fulfillment.

  • Please join me in praying that as I seek to build partnerships with friends and loved ones to be able to fulfill my role in this ministry, many lives will be touched and impacted by the Gospel, yielding maximum fruitfulness to the glory of our God!
  • My immediate goal is to raise funds to pay for the cost of the New Staff Training which I am required to attend next month, May 8-17, 2015, in Orlando, Florida.  After the training, I will have to be fully-funded before I can start reporting to my assignment.  Please pray that I can effectively connect with faithful ministry partners like you who will regularly come alongside me in prayer and meeting the financial needs associated with doing this ministry.

May the time we spend in prayer bring delight to His heart.  And as we delight in Him, the focus of our prayers becomes all about Him.  And where He is, there we find ourselves complete and lacking of no good thing.

Love sincerely in Christ,

Jenny Aquino

P.S.

Give today!  No matter the amount, I will so grateful for it.  God bless you!

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Jenny Aquino. I am so delighted you’ve come to visit! There’s so much I’d like to share with you.

I have joined staff with Cru as a missionary and I am currently building my team of partners who will pray for me and support me financially to be able to report to my mission assignment with GAiN.

May I tell you more about it? What is Cru and what is GAiN?

Cru-Logo-®_cmyk-uncoated

Cru is a caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ. It is committed to the centrality of the cross, the truth of the Word, the power of the Holy Spirit and the global scope of the Great Commission.

GAiN logo

GAiN or Global Aid Network is Cru’s international humanitarian relief and development arm. It works primarily in undeveloped or underdeveloped countries, where resources are scarce or disasters create a crisis that the local and national governments do not have the resources to adequately address. Stateside, GAiN’s objective is to partner with local churches and other like-minded organizations to procure the resources needed to meet needs internationally.

What is my specific role?

As a Registered Nurse, the focus of my assignment is to support and expand GAiN’s current health programs in disaster-response situations, as well as pioneering and improving on-going health development projects by equipping healthcare workers, clinics and hospitals with medicines, medical supplies, medical equipment, hygiene kits and other non-pharmaceutical products and resources.  I will also help in developing and implementing health promotion initiatives and mobilizing medical mission trips through collaboration with established ministry partners within and outside of Cru, local and international community partners, and volunteer health professionals here and abroad to ensure that our programs have a sustainable impact towards multiplying spiritual movements among the world’s most poor and vulnerable population.

How can this be done?

This may sound like a daunting task but God is able! Part of the great news is that this task is not just for me to undertake. God’s design is to work through the Body of Christ. We can do this together!

family spring pic 2014

It is my fervent prayer and hope that you will consider partnering with me and my family in this ministry, so that together we can witness God’s Spirit move in bringing more people who are rather deprived of the basic necessities in life, such as health care, come into His kingdom.

Join my team of ministry partners today!  Subscribe to my prayer letters by providing me your name and email address through the contact tab and/or setting up your one-time or monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual tax-deductible contributions of any amount by clicking here.
