Fearless!

 

Last month, I chaperoned our two teenaged children, Journey and Harvest, to their first youth conference hosted by Youth Specialties.  The theme of the conference couldn’t be more appropriate and timely — Fearless!

God is a safe place to hide,
ready to help when we need Him.
We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom,
courageous in seastorm and earthquake,
before the rush and roar of oceans,
the tremors that shift mountains.

For All Seasons Band led the time of worship at the youth conference. Journey and I both became fans of this band early this year and to see and hear them lead worship up close was such a treat!  This line on one of their songs, Bigger Than, captures the truth that has anchored my heart steadily as I navigated my way through a fearsome diagnosis the past three months.

You are the God who always sees us,
even in bare and desperate seasons;
no matter what the circumstance,
You are the Rock on which I stand.
